President Niinistö in Berlin: No One Is Allowed to Attack Anywhere Through Finland, finlandtoday.fi

According to President Sauli Niinistö, no one – no nation – is allowed to attack any other country through Finland. Niinistö commented on the country’s defense policy while visiting Berlin to meet the German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier on Thursday.

Niinistö added that Finland will decide by itself, whether its airspace or landmass is used to protect Estonia or the Baltic countries.

The Finnish president also made clear that Finland can’t be a country that gives military aid without receiving any.

During his visit, President Niinistö stressed that security problems must be raised to the top of Europe’s development agenda. “The union could send citizens the strong message that Europe is taking care of their security. Security must be at the forefront of European development. In the European debate, Germany is an important partner for Finland because we have very similar ideas,” Niinistö said. Läs artikel
